Liked the story overall, but I feel like it could use some editing to tighten it up. In addition to a few textual errors, some sequences dragged on and others were a bit short. Plot armor was very visible and most of the characters were pretty one dimensional (including the protagonist).

With those criticisms out of the way, it was still an enjoyable read, with some particularly fun and imaginative scenes. The coins are more than a little bit Pokemon, but are described colorfully and put to creative use.

In short, the book's weak points are no worse than those of any action/adventure popcorn blockbuster, and it's enjoyable despite them for precisely the same reasons.

Wow!!! It. Met all my expectations. It's a great story... I hope to see a sequel some time soonm
This book is the beginning of an unbelievable journey you are about to embark on. "Coins" is a franchise in the making-- I couldn't put it down! Highly recommended.
In addition to having an amazingly fun premise, COINS also delivers a fast-paced and exciting story, full of interesting characters and incredibly imaginative action. I've definitely never read anything like it before!
This was a very entertaining read. It was recommended by another author and was worth every minute. Looking forward to the next one.
Red Star is one of my all-time favorites, so I had some pretty high expectations for this book. I was flying through this book like a Valkarie on the back of a winged beast. Amazing. Delicious. Uproarious! You'll pick it up and devour it, promise. Go. Drop some coin for Coins and get comfortable, its a helluva ride!
Quite an enjoyable ride! This book creates a world I've never seen before in this genre. It has characters full of heart, and it's so inventive with its use of coins and fantasy elements. There were so many clever plot twists and puzzles that kept me turning pages. And I was happy to see that the book didn't fall into Rothfuss' trap of just being one long setup for a second book as many fantasy novels do. The story stands on its own with an exciting payoff that is hopefully the first of many stories in this vivid world.
Have read a lot of books in the past ten years. Various authors and story lines. This book I would class as a fantasy adventure novel. When the character Roland came in all I could think of was Stephen Kings Dark Tower Series of books. The story is a good one. Good Verses Evil. It seems like it is geared for a couple of follow up books. The characters are able to get their different aspects of beliefs involved in their interaction with each other, but the various coin characters are sort of hard to figure out. Would definitely read the next book.
