1.“A Gent from Bear Creek” is a collection of Western short stories by Robert E. Howard. It was first published in the UK in 1937 by Herbert Jenkins. The first US edition was published by Donald M. Grant, Publisher, Inc. in 1966.
2. “The Hour of the Dragon” is one of the original stories by Howard and his only full length novel about Conan the Cimmerian. Originally written for a British publisher Dennis Archer, it was later published as a five part serial in Weird Tales between the months of December 1935 to April 1936 after the initial publisher folded. It is considered by many to be one of his best works.

This is one of my all time favorite books. Maybe you have to be in the right frame of mind, but I find myself laughing out loud at some point everytime I read it, and the first time was over 25 years ago. Not that it was new, even back then... The point is, it's a book that you'll want to keep around, not just the current best-seller. I don't know about you, but there aren't too many books that have actually made me laugh. I keep loaning it out, and then I never get it back! This is a very enjoyable set of stories; if you like tall tales and westerns, you'll love this book. Highly recommend!
Love REH...but thought I was getting the full Breckenridge Elkins stories, not just one short story.
Well written, humorous story from the old west. Very enjoyable reading.
hard to read, very predictable story lines
Excellent book. I love Robert E. Howard. The Bear Creek series really shows off his humorous side. Keep in mind that this is only one story, not the whole series.
Sucks that they try to pass off half a book as a whole book, the real thing is great but this is not nearly the whole thing, just a rip off of Howards work, and those who have not read the original may think they are getting what is advertised, but buyer beware, this is not the whole book but about half of it, don't buy this rip off, unless you like wasting money.
If you haven't read A Gent From Bear Creek, you've been deprived. One of the few books that has literally made me laugh out loud. It has been a favorite since I discovered it over 25 years ago, and will always be a member of my personal library - happy to be able to add it to my virtual collection, since the hard copies routinely grow legs.
