What Lies Beneath Richard Denney Books

This was a surprisingly good read!

I really liked the pace of What Lies Beneath. From start to finish, it was pretty exciting.
The characters were nice and Blair wasn't annoying (thumbs up for that).

I really liked how short it was. It's only 172 pages. But it feels... Right. Like it didn't drag on but it didn't rush the story. It was really perfect in that aspect.

I loved the opening chapter and the ending was pretty amazing.

It reminded me of Pretty Little Liars a bit. From the creepy letters and gifts, it reminded me of A. But it's a dead boyfriend not a dead best friend.

The only thing I thought that could have been better was the editing. It lacked a lot of punctuation marks and something it seemed like Denney didn't put down a complete thought. And if I noticed, it's a pretty big deal.

Overall, What Lies Beneath is a great read. It's spooky, exciting, and really entertaining. I really enjoyed it.

What Lies Beneath Richard Denney Books Reviews

I really enjoyed this story, though it was a little to fast paced for my taste. I do recommend you give it a read if you have the chance.
This was a great read. The mystery was good. The pacing was quick, but not too fast. The story really moved.
After Blair was almost murdered by her boyfriend, she soon finds out he's dead. It doesn't take long for him to start contacting her from behind the grave.
I loved the relationship of Blair and Max. I LOVED the ending. So awesome.
Really enjoyed it!!
OMG that ending! I was not expecting that!

This is a quick read (read it in a couple of hours) but it still packs a creepy punch! I loved the atmosphere of the story and how it kept me on the edge of my seat, quite literally!
Whoa. I'm not usually one for psychological thrillers, but this was a pretty good one. That ending was just...wow. While I would have liked to see more character development (and a slightly more mature protagonist who didn't narrate in run-ons), I still found the story enjoyable in a weird, dark and twisty sort of way.
I was really disappointed by this novel. It begin with the suspense of the lead character nearly being killed by her fiancée, who was later found dead. Following her near death experience this character began to see the ghosts of girls who had been killed by the same person who tried to kill her. Something exists that is bigger than one person, and far more dangerous, and it is still after the main character.
From here, however, the story really went no where. The basic storyline was suspenseful and it could have explored the spiritual world so much more than it did. It just did not go deep enough, only scratching the surface of 'what lies beneath'. I wanted it to give me spine-tingling chills, but it produced nothing more than a faint shiver.
UPDATE I keep thinking about this book. That's truly the mark of a great story. I find myself wishing there was a sequel. Do yourself a favor and read this!

An enjoyable story from a self published author. The book opened with a solid storyline. I easily envisioned the characters and settings. I would be interested to see the last 21 pages expanded upon. Re-editing would polish it nicely. 👍

wow what the hell did I just read?? what lies beneath is such a beautiful and amazing book and is Richard's best novel yet. I loved the unpredictability how for most of the book you don't really know what's going on until the end it was truly one of the best book I've read all year. the book starts off with Blair being pulled into the water someone tried to kill her but why I asked myself about every chapter I loved the writing style as I do in all of Richard's books. but in this on it was just different in a very good way. I loved at how Blair begins to question how she is getting these thing that only her boyfriend Dylan knew. so this book definitely has it's twists and turns, I truly loved this book and I love how Richard writes such amazing standalone novels. great job Richard loved it with all my heart 5/5 stars.

there are deep wishes that maybe someday in like 5 years that I hope a sequel will be written because I just loved this beautiful world and would love to see more of it.
